FOUAD NOHRA WRITER-COMPOSER-SINGER

Fouad Nohra carries within him a double allegiance to the Oriental and the Occidental. His work mirrors a generation divided between the attachment to the roots and the dreams of faraway places, but is also a shining example of an artist who remains solely guided by the dictations of his own heart.

Fouad Nohra brings with him from Paris to Lebanon his souvenirs of a serene childhood in France along with his painful memories of a Lebanon torn apart by the war.

His studies of classical music at the Conservatory of Rennes started at the age of 10. Back to Lebanon, Fouad Nohra deepens his knowledge by studying Oriental music at the Conservatory of Beirut. Since then, he writes, composes, arranges and performs his heartily felt songs with a disarming authenticity.

January 2003 saw his first album, Boom Boom-a revelation to the public. The album's innovative style stems mainly from the surprising blend of sonorities: Mediterranean instruments like the Oud, the Kanoun, the Bouzouki intertwine with the electric guitar, the piano, the Latin percussions to form a unique tapestry of sounds and feelings.

Fouad Nohra's music is a celebration of both the traditional and the modern. His songwriting talent is brilliant, and his voice as authentic as the words he writes to create his melodies.
